Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?
Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.

Must I be completely undressed?
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session.

Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?
The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet or towel.

Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

What parts of my body will be massaged?
A typical full-body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders.

What will the massage or bodywork feel like?
A relaxing Swedish massage is often a baseline for clients. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. Often, a light oil or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. The oil also helps hydrate your skin. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.

Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?
There are numerous types of massage and bodywork; various techniques utilize different strokes, including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movement, posture and movement re-education, application of pressure to specific points, and more. We can discuss which methods may be most appropriate for you.

What should I do during the massage or bodywork session?
Prior to the massage, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the massage, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when they need more or less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.

What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.

What is Jikiden Reiki?                                                                           Have you tried conventional or holistic treatments for dis-ease, pain, injury, stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, or emotional-mental well-being?

Jikiden Reiki is a gentle, but effective form of therapeutic energy work. Jikiden Reiki helps remove very deep energetic blockages, restoring a more harmonious and balanced flow of energy through the body, emotions, and mind. It is a relaxing, powerful, hands-on, clothes-on healing system that is exceptionally simple and complementary. Distinguished by its pure lineage directly from Japan, Jikiden Reiki has very strict training standards that have been passed down in an undiluted form since its founding.

In our line of Work, having an Authentic Lineage is everything! The form of Reiki that we offer is the Oldest, Purest and Authentic! Distinguished by its pure lineage directly from Japan, Jikiden Reiki has very strict training standards that have been passed down in an undiluted form since its founding.

Here’s our Jikiden Reiki Family Tree:

Today, Reiki is widely recognized in North America as a viable form of complementary medicine and is frequently sound in hospitals. All living things have an innate ability to heal, it’s simply that blockages get in the way, similar to how trees and rocks can dam up a river and prevent it from flowing as it should.  Reiki shifts energy and allows the body to heal itself.

What to Expect

The Reiki session may start with a discussion of the physical, emotional and mental issues that you wish to work on. Following an energetic scan of the body, to observe which areas are in most need of attention, the treatment will begin.
During the treatment, you will lay down on a massage table while I place my hands gently on the body, or just off the body. The sensations that you may notice vary widely from person to person, but can include heat, coldness, tingling, pressure, and slight physical shifts. Most people will enter into a deeply relaxed state, allowing for useful memories or thoughts to arise that offer clues or guidance for the core issues that you may want to address.

As I am intuitively guided by my senses, I will simply follow what shows up in the moment, no two sessions are ever the same. Your treatment might include shifting energy of destructive beliefs "back in time," using energies of various frequencies and elements, or working with structural issues in your body.

Reiki can help improve emotional patterns, long-standing physical issues, or severe illnesses. Some people like to receive regular treatments to balance their busy lifestyles or to clear out subconscious issues on an ever deepening level.

PREPARE FOR YOUR TREATMENT:

Take a relaxing shower the morning or afternoon before your treatment. It will help cleanse your body both physically and spiritually. It will also remove any distracting smells from lotions or perfumes (do not wear perfumes or lotions with a strong fragrance).

Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing. Remove belts & jewelry during treatment (or leave them home). Wear shoes that can be easily removed & put back on.

Speak to me before the treatment regarding any questions or concerns you may have. Also let me know if you become too warm/cold, or if your comfort level changes during the treatment.

What is Medi-Cupping?

Medi-Cupping®, also known as Medical Massage Cupping and Vacuum Therapy, is relatively new to the massage therapy world.  While its exact origins are unknown, thousands of years ago Chinese Medicine incorporated cupping with the use of fire to create a vacuum in glass cups, which were  then applied to the body to divert blood during surgery and move stagnant “Chi” (a.k.a. energy or life-force).  Cupping has also been linked to ancient Ayurveda in India and the early Egyptian civilizations.

The fire cupping process has been simplified by using a manual or electric pump to create the vacuum in plastic or glass cups.  The massage cups are applied to different areas of the body to increase circulation, release restrictions and scars, soften fascia and connective tissue, move inflammation and increase lymphatic flow.  One of the greatest features of Medi-Cupping is its non-invasive nature by way of decompression.  Most massage techniques are intrusive, meaning they enter your body’s space through compression into your tissue.  Since Vacuum Therapy uses decompression to lift and separate your tissue, it is often painless, while gaining the same results as traditional massage techniques.  Very restricted or inflamed areas of the body will sometimes pinch a little at first, but as the tissue softens, most discomfort will diminish.

In addition to offering treatment of pain and injury, Medi-Cupping has proven effective preparing the body for surgery and speeding up post-surgical recovery (after release from your doctor).

“Medi-Cupping is fantastic for general detoxification, body-contouring and supporting smoking cessation.  The Facelift massage series can literally erase years from your face by minimizing, if not removing, wrinkles and fine lines.  Medi-Cupping is also one of the most effective and painless treatments of scars.  After just one treatment, superficial scars feel and appear softer.  Burn scars are also greatly improved by softening the connective tissue and increasing the range of motion.

Facelift Massage

By increasing circulation and facilitating lymphatic flow, the skin tone is healthier.   The massage cups are applied to wrinkles to lift the skin and release the layers of fused tissue and promote collagen and elastin function.  Not only will you look better, but you’ll feel amazing too!  This process is very relaxing as well as effective.  Ask for a free demo and see for yourself.

Medi-Cupping

Whether you’re looking for a great detoxification after a sporting event, seeking to improve the appearance of your skin or trying to quit smoking, Medi-Cupping is a great tool for the job.  The Medi-Cupping process increases circulation, promotes lymphatic drainage, helps to remove soft-tissue restrictions and prepares the skin to better absorb essential oils.  In these treatments, we use a wide range of essential oil blends to promote detoxification, toning, fat-dissolving, diuretic, anti-cellulite, insomnia, anxiety, immunity, irritability, lung support and others.  Whether you commit to a series or just choose to try a single session, you won’t be disappointed.
